About this course
This hands-on course teaches surface pattern design for someone starting out, taking you from one drawn motif to a finished seamless repeat you can sell or license. You will learn the geometry behind invisible repeats, the half-drop, brick and diamond grids, then design motifs that hold together at scale, lock in a disciplined colour palette and produce multiple colourways. You will finish able to build a tiling tile, present it as a croquis with colourways, and hand off correctly sized files for spoonflower-style fabric printing, wallpaper rolls and stationery, plus understand how surface licensing deals are structured.
